Very few people manage to be as cool as she is. Very few people manage to make rum cake as well as she does. Luckily, she was willing to share the recipe with the rest of us.

It was delicious. And not difficult to make. I think the secret to the cake’s moisture is the pudding powder she adds to the cake mix. According to Grand Betsy, some people argue that doing so is no longer necessary because modern-day cake mixes contain pudding powder (the recipe is quite old- she found it in a Bacardi advertisement in the 70s). But there’s nothing wrong with double pudding.
